Anna Reed - Plant Spirits

I had started painting again after a long respite in early 2017 but on September 6 2017 our little island of St. Martin, was devastated by the monstrous Hurricane Irma. It was heartbreaking to see the devastation and I looked at my paintings to remember how beautiful my Flamboyant tree had once been. But just days after this terrible event I watched as all the new shoots and bright green leaves started to reappear, brightening the brown and grey landscape and I started painting again…

My work is my way of expressing my gratitude to you, my plant friends, for helping me to keep my sanity during a very difficult time.
